This is not about being the funniest person in the room. It is about getting comfortable being yourself in front of other people.

What your first class actually looks like

  1. 1We start with simple warmups.Light, playful exercises help the room relax before anything bigger happens.
  2. 2You play easy creative games.Everything is guided. You are not expected to be clever, funny, polished, or theatrical.
  3. 3You work with partners and small groups. The focus is connection, communication, listening, and getting out of your head.
  4. 4You are never forced on stage. You can participate at your own pace, and the class is structured to keep things low-pressure.
  5. 5You leave with momentum. Most people are surprised by how quickly they relax and how good it feels to play again.

Inside Blackbox · Saskatoon

It is not about being funny or performing. It is about feeling more comfortable in your body and around other people.

Blackbox Academy

Worried it might be awkward?
That is exactly why the class is structured.

“I’m shy.”Good. This is built for people who feel nervous walking in.
“I’m not funny.”You do not need jokes. You need presence, listening, and willingness.
“I’ll feel awkward.”Maybe for a minute. Then the structure starts doing its job.

No commitment. No payment. No awkward sales call.

Questions

Is it really free? What is the catch?

Genuinely free. No card required. No trial that auto-charges. After your free class, weekly classes are membership-based from $35/month — no pressure to sign up.

Will I have to perform on stage?

No. No stage, no audience. You work in pairs and small groups, and you can sit out anything that feels like too much.

What if I am not funny?

Improv is not comedy. It is presence and honest reaction. The funny stuff happens on its own when people stop trying.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes. Have them book their own free intro spot so we know to expect them.
