What We Teach
Improv Level 1
Our beginners improv class introduces all the fundamental concepts of improvisation to students over a 12 week course, guided by our professional teachers. The class culminates in a performance for friends and family on the last day.

Audition Class
Our audition class is a weekly skill sharpener for the actor, a place to get some practice under your belt and keep fresh. Each week students are assigned a real world audition that they will prepare and bring to class, mimicking the work of a professional actor.
Anatomy of a Story
Our Anatomy of a Story class covers the fundamental concepts of story structure over a 12 week course. This class is essential for anyone interested in the performing arts – actors, writers, directors, and everyone else can benefit from the lessons of story.

At Blackbox Academy, we help students live their best lives through the practice of the performing arts.
Over my years pursuing my dreams in the big city, I began to realize something fascinating within the craft of performance. As I watched new acting students challenge and overcome the limiting beliefs in their lives, I started to see them experiencing incredible personal transformations.
I had also noticed this within myself throughout my career – the practice of acting was unlocking a sense of ease in the rest of my life. The more I looked, the more I realized it was happening naturally through the work of the actor.
Acting by its nature is transformational. Classes are training grounds strengthening your relationship with fear, building grit, and overcoming our self judgments. Hidden behind the fun and play of performance is this perpetual self-growth that is a natural result of doing the work with the right guidance.
